In response to the original question on this thread, we had a lot of luck moving our co-sleeping DS into his crib after he nursed to sleep in our bed starting at about 15 months. It was a last ditch effort before buying a king size bed. He really took to it fine at that age (after wanting no part of the crib prior to that and waking up instantly if he was moved off our bed). So, if you want to go that route, give it a try. He is now 21 months and sleeps in his crib until about 4-5am then comes into bed with us until 7am. His crib is in our room so we're all awake for about 1 minute when he makes the transition in the early morning hours. I got pregnant when he was 18 months and weaned him about a month ago because I didn't want him to associate the new baby with the end of nursing. He was ready, it was a piece of cake and took about 10 days to wean from both morning and night nursing. One of us lies down with him on our bed to fall asleep then we pop him into the crib. Takes about 30 min each night but we both are eager to be the bedtime person because who doesn't want toddler cuddles at the end of the day? For naps, we lie down with him on a twin mattress in his room and then leave when he falls asleep. We will probably transition to that at night before baby comes.
