Hmm, what field?  I'm also a research scientist, ~10 years out of Ph.D. in a social science field, but did several years of post-doc and grunt work before assuming current position.  Currently making a little <$100K.  I love what I do, but now I've got mouths to feed!  :-) [/quote]

What's your PhD in, and what do you do?

My PhD is in clinical psych, and I'm about to start a position paying $90K, just shy of six years out.  It's a Fed position, with telework and great benefits, so the trade-off in not making six figures for a few years is very worth it.[/quote]

PhD in Biology, but I don't use it anymore. I work in sales so I also have incredible flexibility. Not going back to research![/quote]
