I'm the PP who asked the two questions.   The above poster you quoted, that starts with "Lucky you..." is different poster...but I agree with them.

Sure, I have $20.    I DON'T have $20, 4 times a week, every single week to spend on ice cream.   I don't think that qualifies for me for the "unfit parent" category.  [/quote]

I'm the poster who said the PP was "lucky".

First can you understand that most people on this earth practice economy and do not go out every week for ice cream? Should this be such a blot on their character that you would need to disparage them? How utterly pathetic you are.

Second, can you understand that this ice cream outing habit is an attribute not only of the affluent but particularly of the indulgent American? We come from Europe, and even the affluent there do not do this. It would be seen as too wasteful and greedy. People prefer to spend their money on more lasting investments or experiences.
