We probably go out about once every 2-4 weeks. Otherwise, we buy ice cream at the grocery store or make our own (you can make some "healthy" ice cream by freezing a banana and then blending it with frozen berries; if you put it in an ice cream cone, it almost seems like ice cream but has no milk or sugar!).

Did you also give your baby a homemade sugar free muffin for their first bday "cake"?

Wow, some ice cream haters here! I can't imagine feeling superior over something as silly as ice cream!

We go once or twice per week, and we always bike or walk there. It's only about 2 miles so I'm probably not even putting a dent in the calories consumed from the ice cream, but it does make me feel better about myself

Sure, I have $20. I DON'T have $20, 4 times a week, every single week to spend on ice cream. I don't think that qualifies for me for the "unfit parent" category.

First can you understand that most people on this earth practice economy and do not go out every week for ice cream? Should this be such a blot on their character that you would need to disparage them? How utterly pathetic you are.

Second, can you understand that this ice cream outing habit is an attribute not only of the affluent but particularly of the indulgent American? We come from Europe, and even the affluent there do not do this. It would be seen as too wasteful and greedy. People prefer to spend their money on more lasting investments or experiences.

Well now I feel bad because we haven't gone at all this summer.

We are very healthy, we will have Sweetgreen or maybe sushi for dinner and icecream.

We are family of 3 so it makes it much easier to buy icecream regularly. I can see how with your large family going out for icecream is a whole different expense!

Yup, we can each get a scoop out of a carton and have leftovers, for under $5 at the grocery. Watch for sales and put it in your freezer.
