If they are born that way though, they can't be faulted for the sexual orientation they were born with. Yet their sexual orientation - which they can't choose or change - hurts others. So how do we acknowledge the struggle they have to have a sexual orientation that they can't change and that they didn't choose but that is socially unacceptable, and hurts others. Is it fair to ask someone to suppress their natural sexuality? how do we deal with this?
Yes, because they are hurting children.
And also, th overwhelming majority of pedophiles aren't "born that way." They are made by the sexual abuse they experienced.
Sexual orientation minorities (non heterosexuals) also have much higher rates of sexual abuse as well as other abuse and traumas and general childhood maltreatment. I don't doubt that pedophiles are impacted as well by childhood maltreatment. However it isn't a 100% correlation. It makes sense that abuse and trauma - that impacts trust, sexual identity, safety, attachment, self-worth, relational competencies would impact sexual orientation as it impacts almost every area of development. However like personality there are innate qualities that for some people override nurture/ abuse. Not all people who have been abused are non heterosexual and not all people who are non heterosexual have been abused. The same is true for pedophiles - not all have histories of sexual abuse - some are just born that way.
