LJ is much smaller AAP Center with 333 students vs. Kilmer 570 students vs. Longfellow 694 students. Their TJ acceptance rate is on par with Frost MS when Frost has more students 375. This is 2011-212 statistics from FCPS school profile. Last year LJ had 20 students accepted to TJ, and 18 students in previous year. The school is doing very well indeed!
More Frost MS AAP Center students opt not to apply to TJ as their high school is Woodson.
The percentage of total AAP students from Frost and Jackson applying to TJ was virtually identical this year. I assume this was a dig at Falls Church HS, but some Jackson AAP students also are zoned for Madison and Oakton, and some Frost AAP students are zoned for Annandale. If one wants to play with statistics, as among these four schools: - a higher percentage of Kilmer and Longfellow AAP students applied to TJ than is the case at Frost and Jackson - the percentage of applicants making the semifinal round was highest at Longfellow (77%), followed by Kilmer (66%), Frost (58%), and Jackson (47%) - the percentage of applicants actually admitted was highest at Longfellow (26%), followed by Kilmer (22%), Frost (20%) and Jackson (17%) - the percentage of semifinalists admitted was highest at Jackson (36%) was slightly higher than the percentage at Longfellow, Kilmer and Frost (34%). So goes the lunch break. Didn't run the #s for Carson or Rocky Run, but they are undoubtedly higher than these four schools on some of these metrics. Burp!
