People who still have an issue with Platner are class conscious and look down upon the working class.
And yet, on the flip side, he also faces criticism that’s he’s not truly working class, having gone to Hotchkiss for a bit & with his dad… We all just need to get behind him & get rid of Collins!!!
How isolated are you? Do you not know a college-educated person who has a blue-collar job? I know a brilliant man who went to Amherst who works as a carpenter. He rejects the corporate culture and likes working with his hands and on his own. So, if my friend ran for Congress--which he could as he's brilliant--you'd criticize him for cosplaying at being blue collar just because he went to Amherst??? My friend (and Platner) has a blue collar job!! He isn't pretending to be blue collar, and neither is Platner. This is how they have chosen to make their living. Now Platner wants to be in the Senate for very good reasons, and I support him. If I lived in Maine, I'd vote for him.
I think PP’s issue is that he is not from “the struggle” and is actually just a spoiled rich kid who had a choice to play working class. He has a lot in common with AOC, who was also a privileged kid who cosplays as working class for votes. Bernie Sanders grew up in the housing projects. He knows what it’s like to struggle because he has no other choice but to struggle as a child. It’s a different experience, that’s all, and we need more politicians who actually grew up in the struggle and less sons and daughters of privilege. People like Christopher Smalls.
