I purposely chose to not have my kids raised in that "world".

But everyone's real world is different.

There are people that can live their entire lives in a bubble.  Growing up in a country club lifestyle and living that way all through the life.

These people also tend to go to very prestigious/exclusive colleges and for their careers work surrounded by similar people.

So while it may not be your world, it's their "real world".

Like I said, I purposely didn't want my kids to live in that type of world.  But no one should be judging on who's world is the real or right one.

And hey for all of the virtue signalling from Dr. Taylor and Dr. Starr, just wanted to point out that they still chose to live in the richest part of the county.  If diversity and equity was such a big deal to them, shouldn't they make sure that their families live in the "real world" too?[/quote]

I actually wasn't referring to the topic of this thread.  But more so all of the other programs/initiatives that they expressed support for.  Such as the regional models or yes, if they're doing anything to try to balance out demographics/performance at schools.  Maybe not necessarily at Woodward but at other schools/programs.[/quote]

No.  Actually in previous/earlier threads I suggested if MCPS really wanted to be equitable they could look into allocating seats or percentages to students from specific schools.

For example, there's no representation from the NEC to the Blair magnet program?  Then allocate like 15 spots just for the students from the NEC.

MCPS isn't doing anyone any favors in dumbing down programs and curriculum or just mix student groups to balance out test scores but not help students improve proficiency.  Because it all ends up showing in standardized tests, college and afterwards.[/quote]

Nec should have had their own magnet and left Blair to the DCC only.  There is also a huge assumption all smart kids want Blair and they don’t.  Mine did not like the courses.  New magnets may not dumb things down as lots of smart kids as not accepted due to space.  You are better off at a non w school or Blair for college acceptances as less competition.  [/quote]
