Also, if a lot of your financial life is online only, consider how your trustee or executer would find all your asset accounts, monthly bills, insurances, etc should you and your spouse be killed together in an accident. Remind them yearly of where they can find all your legal papers and know all the accounts to access in order to pay off your final debts and sell your assets and arrange care for any children. You might even stash $5K somewhere safe in your house and tell them how to get it, so they can cover some of the initial expenses, as all your accounts will be frozen until the estate starts to get settled.

If only one spouse does all the bills, this spouse should make a financial instruction list, how to access account passwords, and what bills to pay monthly, quarterly and yearly, so the grieving spouse has an easier time taking everything over.[/quote]
