Parent of a HS aged kid with an IEP. This will have no effect on him or us. Honestly, I found out about it here and am not following his social media posts. My kid is not personally hurt by this. To be perfectly honest, everyday teen banter is much much worse. They are pretty awful. No, it’s not okay. No, I’m not excusing it. OP asked what effect this will have on kids with disabilities and as a parent of a HS kid I’m answering that.
Thank you for posting this. Does your kid have ID?
No. I didn’t want to post that because it wasn’t relevant. I happen also to be a special education teacher. I still think you are giving this way too much attention and this will not affect HS students in the slightest. Stop following him, OP, and you won’t see this stuff. And seriously, you should hear what is said in high schools in the classrooms. Again. It’s not okay nor is a lot of what comes out of the mouth of my students or my own kids. Disability or no disability.
