What are you talking about? It's literally in Trump's Thanksgiving message from this year 2025! What's wrong with your google?

No, it’s not okay. No, I’m not excusing it. OP asked what effect this will have on kids with disabilities and as a parent of a HS kid I’m answering that.

Thank you for posting this. Does your kid have ID?

No. I didn’t want to post that because it wasn’t relevant. I happen also to be a special education teacher. I still think you are giving this way too much attention and this will not affect HS students in the slightest. Stop following him, OP, and you won’t see this stuff. And seriously, you should hear what is said in high schools in the classrooms.

Again. It’s not okay nor is a lot of what comes out of the mouth of my students or my own kids. Disability or no disability.

You think if she stops following Trump, she won’t hear this stuff??

The press reports it everywhere!

You are being very literal. I meant don’t pay it any attention. The same way I don’t pay it any attention or act shocked and alarmed when a teen with multiple disabilities and ADHD lets off a stream of obscenities and the N word and worse in class. This happens. When you feed into things and give people attention they will see they are getting a reaction out of you and the behavior will happen more.

That is way over simplified and I get this is the president. I just don’t think it’s worth getting all spun up and sideways. Ignore and move on. Maybe I have a different perspective because I need to do that 1000 times per day in verbally explosive classrooms, along with behavior management techniques to deescalate, of course.

He used the r word as an insult. He has been doing it for years. But you know this. Everyone does. Or have you been asleep?

I am not a troll or asleep, I think he used a word properly.

Unacceptable according to whom? It has a literal definition of slow. It has been common usage for decades.

It has been unacceptable to use this term to mean “slow” for decades.

If you don’t know this you are perhaps a little slow yourself. But the more likely scenario is that you do know this and you’re trolling. Either way, GFY.

It was an improper word

Only morons speak that way.

Just quoting Rex Tillerson there. The man had firsthand experience with Trump, unlike most of us 🤣

You’re giving him too much credit. Based on Trump’s second grade level use of English, he’s incapable of using the word as defined that way. He’s only familiar with the colloquial, school yard definition. He has a very poor command of English for a native speaker. For example, if he’s wandering DC on his own without an entourage, he’d declare, “I’m lost.” But would he say, “the meaning of that poem is lost on me.” Probably not. Listen to the way he speaks— he mostly adheres to using words with one syllable or very general adjectives. For example, not good.”

The former would cost too much. All those parents taking care of their adult children are saving the government a ton of money.

I'm so proud of him. Now, more than ever, we need people speaking up for people with disabilities.

For those who say Trumps words will have no impact for people with disabilities, hogwash. Hateful words from an authority figure embolden the hate filled around us.

He’s garbage. The way he, and Karoline Leavitt, speak to the press is just unbelievable. I wish the press would stop showing up or just walk out.

Isn’t it impossible to know? Most kids with ID aren’t reading Trumps tweets. But if it normalizes this as an insult for a certain segment of the population, that will affect them. It’s the ripple effects but no one knows now how big that effect will be.
