I'm not white and maybe this has something to do with it but the show set in a major city was just so white except for the Latino and African American supporting characters. MINOR SPOILER -- STOP HERE IF YOU WANT And the implausible big reveal could have only happened because everyone was so conveniently white.
I dunno. Maybe you always watch shows via that lens. Mental disorders don’t go by race. Neither does neurodivergency or physical handicaps. It pretty much had characters for every demographic- blue colored whites w petty crime, Hispanic cop, special needs kid, physically handicapped adult brother, black AA cofounder w the wife, Latino nanny, suburban whites near Northwestern. Heck, even the white nanny looked typical Chicago Russian or Polish. Have you walked around Chicago? Blonds are everywhere from U of Chicago and north. Different demo than Manhattan.
