Op here. I’m still watching Dawsons Creek.
People need to learn to let themselves be sad when something sad happens. It’s OK that you’re sitting on your couch watching Dawsons Creek by yourself feeling a bit sad. Sadness is a part of life and it’s OK. You need to become comfortable with sadness. Loneliness happens whether you’re married or not married. There are a ton of married women sitting at home watching Dawsons Creek by themselves feeling lonely. You also need to learn to be alone. Being alone is something we never learned growing up, but it’s an important part of life. Give yourself some time. Let yourself feel sad. Write down a few things you’d like to do and make sure you do them. Reconnect with some friends that you stopped being friends with because you poured all your energy into your marriage. Exercise even though it’s just a walk. Shower every morning. Eat healthy food. Go for a walk. Phone a friend. You can’t rebuild your life in an instant. In six months, you’ll be a lot better. Than six months more will be even better. You can’t believe it right now, but there’s gonna be a time when you don’t even think about the person you were once married to.
