This is a fear of mine. Not from internet stories but because of real life things that happened to my family or friends.

As a kid, we rented a house from a woman whose childhood best friend lived next door. She didn’t tell us that the neighbor had a complete set of keys to our house or that the house had been used by neighborhood kids as a place to drink or do drugs while skipping school. Most of the trespassers were otherwise respectful and we wouldn’t have known, but one was sloppy and my parents figured it out.

I’ve also had friends who had food, alcohol, and toiletries vanish after moving into a new home. One set a trap by turning up the hot water heater after he suspected someone was living in a crawl space and showering. Another was eating dinner when the man hiding in her house walked out with his bag. [/quote]
