For me, it was even more heartbreaking how he didn't even say goodbye to the stepson he basically was a father figure for since birth. Broke up with his mom when he was 12 or 13 and never even said a real goodbye. But, that said, it was made clear that his family members all had major mental illnesses and he likely does too. And he hasn't dealt with it and has been an active alcoholic for almost all of his adult life, so expecting him to behave in an emotionally mature way is unrealistic. His band members knew him better than anybody. They saw how he treated his wives. They could have known what was possible if they'd opened their eyes.[/quote]
