You realize that those H1Bs that work at the tech companies probably make (total comp) 5-10x + more money annually than you do (if not more). Yeah work life balance ain't always amazing, but if you are willing to work hard, have the right credentials (certs, top ranked education, etc) it's worth the massive comp you get at such firms (tech, IB, MBBs, etc).

What they don't tell you is they take advantage of third party "contractors", so those numbers look pretty good (not 10x anything in fact the Median in most cases is below what the standard is in most cases).

For example if you look at Bethesda, the median of H-1b is below the media wage for the area.  There is truth to the fact that plumbers make more money than STEM.
