DC lucky to have these two choices and stumped - says he could see himself happy at either - question is in terms of outcomes, both do very well, but seems like Vandy more with MBB (two of 3 firm founders from Vandy) and Williams more IB / Wall street pipeline. Generalizations for sure, but any thoughts - and I know Williams is isolated lol! and he likes nature just fine
Are you conflating Williams College with Bucknell University when you refer to "Wall Street pipeline" ? In terms of outcomes, Williams College probably places better in the Northeast region of the US. Otherwise, one is small, rural, isolated, and dominated by male athletes. The smallness becomes real and apparent after just one semester. Williams College is a reasonable choice for an intelligent D3 athlete. Beautiful location, but small, isolated community. Vanderbilt University offers a wider array of options both socially and academically. Both are outstanding academically. To the poster who asserted that Williams College is preferred in law or medicine, you have no knowledge of either profession or with respect to law schools or medical schools. Legal & medical professions focus on performance in elite law schools or medical schools, not on one's undergraduate institution. Law schools want a high LSAT score and a high undergraduate GPA from any accredited college or university. Medical schools want a high GPA, high MCAT score, and a solid interview regardless of undergraduate school attended. Between the two schools, if one learns toward the smaller option (Williams College), be sure to check out courses and majors as well as how frequently any desired courses are offered. I attended an LAC larger than Williams College and was severely limited by the majors and courses offered. Vanderbilt University has more options and opportunities socially and academically, yet I do understand the attraction of a small, elite school populated by overachievers located in a remote, but beautiful, area. When I was young--many decades ago--I would have selected Williams College, but, as one with substantial experience, I would choose Vanderbilt University. However, I am not you.
