The free market encourages these companies to do the research and sell their medicines. If there is no financial incentive the r&d doesn't get done and the medicines don't get developed. The alternative is to nationalize the r&d and pharmaceutical industry, in which case the diseases that get attention (and the r&d and medicines developed for) would be subjected to political and bureaucratic influence. As a woman, I sure as hell wouldn't want Donald Trump's HHS deciding which diseases to research and develop cures/treatments for. So if you're saying "fight Pharma" be clear on exactly what you're talking about and what you think the problem is, and your solutions.[/quote]
