OP here and literally nothing seems to be working. We are considering rehoming. I cannot house train this dog. To everyone saying ‘you have to constantly supervise’, we are paying for daycare, etc. but the issue is while we are home she refuses to be in the crate for more than 1.5-2 hours at a time. I work from home and it is not feasible for me to supervise all the time. This sucks. I am so tired of piss and sh!t in my house.
Sorry if this is redundant—didnt read every earlier post. My advice is to spend vacation time—a week or two—dedicated to housebreaking. My shelter dog was not housetrained and had severe intestinal parasites (which made him need to go very often) and I managed to train them in a few days of dedicated training. Either way, have dog tied to your waist on a very short leash. Take it outside every hour, if it’s making whining sounds, or if it’s restless. As it’s peeing, say Go potty. Eventually say Go potty as you take it outside and say it again every time it is relieving itself. I had to take it outside every two hours in the middle of the night until the medicine started working as well. You might need to do this until it’s housebroken. Then I started testing taking dog out every 1.5 hours, every 2 hours, and stretching it out. It was difficult but worth it.
