I should caveat that I'd still recommend that students apply EA if they are URM.  Last year and this year (based this year on a half dozen or so I've just heard about so not sure overall for this year) seems to make a BIG difference in the EA admissions (like URM kids with substantially lower GPAs and course difficulty being admitted EA, with (at least last year) much more of a balance in considering non-race factors in the ultimate regular decision admits). Like depending on a kid's race/ethnicity, they'd be admitted with second-tier (but still strong) courses, and mid-to-low- extracurriculars for black/Hispanic kids verses high GPAs/test scores and course difficulty and, time-consuming extracurriculars and engagement deferrals for white and Asian kids. Based on my limited experience last year, Michigan was the most extreme in this differential based on race/ethnicity in the EA round.  [/quote]
