He was not looking for IB - more like big 4. Honestly I feel like where a 3.5 is out of contention there must be massive grade inflation, like they do at the Ivies.  My oldest is in a STEM program at a highly regarded engineering school and Id say the average GPA there is around 3.2. The coursework is brutual and some classes you kill yourself to get a B. I feel like in a really demanding major a 3.2 is realistic leaving the top 1% at the 3.9-4.0 range. When everyone is 3.5 and above, I'd really question the grading. My son is a 3.7 so he is towards the top and he was a straight A student since elementary and its really difficult to get straight As in college level classses, or should be.[/quote]
