The papers originally said 8 days from date of death to burial, which would have put the funeral on about 1/6. I’m guessing that since Congress is meeting to certify the election on 1/6, they intentionally pushed the funeral out so that he is not lying in state or having his funeral 1/6. They don’t want random people trooping through the Capital 1/6 to see him lying in state that day. It’s been declared a national security zone and they re bring in national guard troops from outside DC to certify the electoral count. So, they also won’t have the manpower to secure the Capital and a state funeral.  Zero chance they are okay with thousands of extra people in the secured area in the Capital 1/6 (thanks MAGA!).  Which would mean lying in state 1/7 and 1/8 and funeral 1/9. [/quote]
