Heck, I'd see if they can't put a curve into the ceiling area over the tub and carry the theme through. I do agree that you should get a freestanding tub. The sunken tub is the most dated feature in the bathroom. The right tub could really make the look. I LOVE that shower and will weep if you destroy it for a soulless, modern shower. Retile and upgrade/update the fixtures. Anyone can renovate and put in a cookie cutter 2024 bathroom. How long are you going to live in this house? In 10-15 years it will be dated.
