Our school sent out a survey to see who would be unable to pick up early, I heard the pta was planning something but I haven’t heard what yet. I think this is so ridiculous. Our kids are in school 9am-3:30. I see teachers leave at 3:45. Why can’t they stay at school like the rest of us until 5-6pm? Why can’t they train over the summer? Or on the like 4 months total they have off?
First off the state has not released training yet, so that is on them, not FCPS. You can’t do a training in the summer if it is not available. Secondly, would you work if you were not being paid? Teachers are paid for 195 days. FCPS doesn’t have the money to pay teachers more for an extra few days of work. I don’t agree with the early release plan as a teacher. I do think the county could have focused solely on LA for ES this year and not required any additional PD. Then we could have used previous SD to complete with maybe a couple of ER days. But FCPS likes to pile on multiple initiatives and PD. That is the larger problem here. FCPS can’t focus on one thing at a time.
