Our school sent out a survey to see who would be unable to pick up early, I heard the pta was planning something but I haven’t heard what yet. I think this is so ridiculous. Our kids are in school 9am-3:30. I see teachers leave at 3:45. Why can’t they stay at school like the rest of us until 5-6pm? Why can’t they train over the summer? Or on the like 4 months total they have off?
Most teachers are paid for 195 days. My husband is a government contractor. His pay, which is standard in the government contracting world, is for 2080 hours, which equals 260 days. 365/366 days in a year. 52 weeks in a year. 104 Saturdays and Sundays. 261 Mondays through Fridays. 261 Monday through Fridays. My DH is getting paid for every single Monday through Friday in a year. I agree that the school system gets way too many days off. But you can't ask someone to do work when they aren't being paid. Pay the teachers for more than 195 days then you can have them train over the summer.
