NP. I think his mindset was probably that the dog would be so confused and sad without him, it was a kindness to put him down. But I’m glad his family didn’t follow his wishes and that the dog is safe. [/quote]

Recall also that he was not a well man for the last few years and it's entirely possible his mind was slipping already when he said this.  Anyway, I'm sure it was more of an expression of affection than a clear intent to euthanize the dog.  I don't see how this could ever have been seriously considered.[/quote]
