Mentioned on the other thread, but the crazy boundaries for lanes 1 and 6 still blow my mind for an all star event. Rutherford were gracious hosts and I appreciate them stepping up. Heads up for AS - Pinecrest depths where the timers/starts occur is only 2.5 ft.
I heard that at AS pool familiarization they will allow kids in the water because of this shallow end. I can't believe there are meets in a pool that is this shallow. Sounds like an accident waiting to happen.
Frankly I am shocked Pinecrest allowed to host any NVSL meets, never mind AS. Seems like a big liability issue.
Yet Pinecrest, along with several other pools in the league, have meets all the time. And every, single time the swimmers seem to manage. Some even swim best times. Even so, there is a very simple solution to this: if you don’t like the depth of the host pool, host it yourself. The only reason Pinecrest is hosting is because none of your pools stepped up.
This. It goes back to there are no pools willing to host. It is so much to ask of a pool with the size of the league.
Pinecrest parent here -- trust me, there are very few of us who want to be hosting but we got kinda stuck with it. We did a great job (self-reporting and from posts here last year) hosting our Divisionals last year (6) but there are all sorts of things NVSL is having us do differently this year so we shall see. Kinda hope enough of you keep complaining that a better pool comes along and offers to do it instead of us having to host a 2nd year?! Taking a look at all of this in prep for our next meeting this evening. And yes, to the PP -- we host meets every summer and thankfully there have been no major issues with our shallow dive end. It sucks but it is what it is at this point. We met with NVSL and NOVA Pools last week to discuss how to high we can fill it up etc.
Why don't the board and the reps propose a rule change? That way those with the most invested provide the most resources.
I don't follow. What rules can the Pinecrest Board and Team reps change? You mean just change our minds and say we won't do it next year?
