I was about 10 years old, I was standing on her kitchen counter, making too much noise i guess, then my dad came in and asked what I was doing. I said hey where is the relish. He put me down and motioned for me to be quiet then he snapped into action finding the jars and loading them into our van. Then my aunt came outside and caught him because they were all trying to talk to him because we had came down from DC but the rest of them are together all the time. She also had tens of feral cats.

My mom’s mom could make homemade breads and rolls. I know that she had a job because one time we went over there and she was getting home from work but who knows what she did? Not me.

Grandpa was a reverend and the other one was a banker. The reverend drove fast and talked a lot for a man. The banker had dementia.

Moral: Nobody ever remembers what a woman did for work but I remember what we ate every time I saw my grandparents. They all died before I was out of middle school.
