Why are you hosting the shower by yourself? Are there other bridesmaids? What about the bride and groom’s mothers? If possible, I would scale WAY back. Less people and have it at your home. Even if you end of catering the food, it would be much less money. Hoping the invites have not gone out.
Op here. I had wanted other friends to help but it didn’t happen. I can’t imagine asking the moms to host (and they didn’t offer). They are paying for the wedding. Alcohol just seems the thing that really kills my budget. I called a lot of clubhouses but they were booked. I have a clubhouse but it is booked solid a year in advance. I didn’t mean to give the impression this was a super fancy event. It’s just a normal bridal shower with brunch. The bride is not over the top, just grew up here and has lots and lots of friends.
The bridal showers I’ve attended did not serve brunch and they certainly didn’t serve alcohol. I think a normal bridal shower typically serves coffee, tea, sherbet punch, cake, and MAYBE a few nibbles.
