I did not realize until I looked it up just now in response to seeing this post that fare evasion was decriminalized in DC. I wondered why there is constant turnstyle jumping now, and I hardly saw it at all my first 15 years of riding the metro here. [/quote]

They have recently, beginning March 18, recriminalized fare evasion and authorized metro police to arrest fare evaders.

No. It is still decriminalized. From the link you posted:
