I don't see how soccer is different than any other sport.
Actually size has less of an effect on soccer than it does some other sports.
Size has a massive effect on soccer at the younger ages. Unless you're smarter than all the research into the subject.
Not really unless the kid is timid. You use your body differently instead of whining that a large kid has some special advantage. Larger kids tend to have weakness smaller kids don't.
One on one maybe but I’ve seen so many very talented late blooming kids get completely boxed out/shut down when multiple super large kids are defending against them (double teamed, etc). Everyone with a late bloomer thinks their kid can be the next Messi and size doesn’t matter but in 99.9% of the cases it’s true. One of my teens who plays another sport has gotten completely shut out this year, after multiple years of playing club, because now her sport only wants super tall girls in every position and there just are so many of them around here that it’s not an issue for the clubs to do this (supply/demand, this is volleyball). So I have major sympathy for the kids I see this happening to in soccer which one of my other kid plays. It stinks. But you can’t train height and size.
