A 5-carat diamond ring runs $20K or more.  To those wondering about people who are bitter - no.  I'm not bitter.  I - and I'm assuming others here - just can't get over the gall of people who think that a $20K engagement ring is no big deal.  Do you watch the news?  Do you have any fucking idea what a flippant bitch you sound like making these comments when the average household income is around $50K/yr and so many people are out of work?  Have a little self awareness - not to mention awareness of the reality of the vast majority of people in this world that is totally different from yours.
