Anonymous wrote:No. Mine has the typical boring diamond (ugh - so overpriced - much prefer sapphires!), but it means so much to me beyond its looks. It means our youth, and its dreams and aspirations.

I agree.

Just replace the baguette.
You guys realize that a 4-5 carat engagement ring is not actually that big, right? 4-5 carat total - a collection of small stones.
A 5-carat diamond ring runs $20K or more. To those wondering about people who are bitter - no. I'm not bitter. I - and I'm assuming others here - just can't get over the gall of people who think that a $20K engagement ring is no big deal. Do you watch the news? Do you have any fucking idea what a flippant bitch you sound like making these comments when the average household income is around $50K/yr and so many people are out of work? Have a little self awareness - not to mention awareness of the reality of the vast majority of people in this world that is totally different from yours. I'm guessing this PP is the same bitch who posted asking people to explain being "poor" b/c the poor "fascinate" her. Your unmitigated gall fascinates me.
Obviously you don't understand what an eternity band is... It's total weight 5 carats of the diamonds going all the way around: http://www.leons-jewelry-store.com/edr003.html

I think at some point, I will probably swap it out for a ring that matches my engagement ring (that is eternity style). DH knows this, he's fine with it, he just wants to see if they can re-use the gold from my wedding band. Which would be great, considering how expensive gold is right now.
I hate to burst your bubble and I'm no jeweler, but I don't think most jewelers will re-use your old gold, due to porosity issues and varying alloys. There's an online jeweler called Green Karat that will, but in general, I don't think most will.

Anonymous wrote:"Eternity band", WTF? Do you just sit on a couch somewhere, taking in calories, waiting to consume what the next canned marketing schtick tells you to expend money and resources and time on? Lord, is this from the QVC channel or something? Something from the deep burbs? How many months' salary do they tell you to spend on it? Does it go with the Pandora? Take your cash and get the F out of the DC area for God's sake. Maybe even the entire USA. It is depraved, it's gone off the rails completely, there is no hope left at all.
