Try not to worry.  Mine was in similar situation 2 years ago. SCEA early w/ no joy and nothing in hand until late Jan. Only had 1 other safety in early March. Then, late March it all rolled it. Stressful waiting, but happily overwhelmed in the end. Just help him keep his focus on the day-to-day.
