Well, I wasn’t told about it. I only noticed it on the receipt. If a million people weren’t told about the penny and bought regardless, that would make McDonalds some hefty pocket change, wouldn’t it? Perhaps they should let people know about the upcharge.

They don’t need to tell you about it if it’s in their posted menu. I’m guessing there’s an asterisk on the board and you ignored it.
