All these kids I know who applied to 10-20 schools start listing all of their acceptances to colleges they have no real interest in attending.
Maybe so, but we wanted to ensure that we had options across a range of schools.
But isn't it easier to narrow them down before submitting all those applications? We did visits last spring when she was a Junior and picked the school DD wanted to attend.
My kid was 16 in the spring. For us, we did not want to give her the pressure of finalizing even the the type of school 18 months before attenfing. Hell, I’m 50 and I can’t decide on a paint color. This is a lot bigger decision, for a person that is a lot less developed. as parents, we did give her information and things that she might want to consider. However, for the small cost in the big picture of the price of a education, We allowed her to apply to avariety of schools that are small privates, large public’s, close to home , farther away. having a few more months for her to grow more into the person she’s going to be in college and with with the acceptances in front of her, being able to do a deep dive into the final 3 or 4 schools gives us more confidence in her decision.
