20 apps??!??

They can and do impose limits. These are private schools. They enforce it by not releasing transcripts to additional schools beyond the limit they set. Parents who don’t like it can choose to enroll their kids elsewhere, nobody is forcing them to attend these private schools. The limits can be beneficial, as the college counseling is very individualized and they take time to curate a realistic application list for each student. Students don’t need to apply to 20 schools just because that’s what fits in the Common App.
Well I guess it’s great your kid attends a school that only “allows” them to choose from 10 schools for their future.
Where did I state my kid attends one of those schools? They don’t but I’m stating facts that there are other private schools that impose limits on number of college applications.

Great that you clarified. Now you should have no issue naming the schools that impose limits. I am aware of none. And I’m assuming someone lied to you if you were told that

Maybe so, but we wanted to ensure that we had options across a range of schools.
But isn't it easier to narrow them down before submitting all those applications? We did visits last spring when she was a Junior and picked the school DD wanted to attend.

Some applicants don’t know where they have no interest in attending until they have the actual results before them.

Why is he applying to so many schools? Are they mostly reaches? So much work!

Really +1? So do you choose ED2 or go straight to RD?

Oh come on. Not all schools have EA.
Exactly. So many schools have either ED or RD, and that's it.
This is just telling us your kid isn't applying to top schools without saying it. (Top privates don't allow EAs at other privates so the max is one private along with publics that have EA rather than ED.)
Super rude. You are telling people your kid didn’t get in ED. But we don’t care that your kid didn’t, and are just here wishing each other the best. Good luck to your DC! Good luck to all these hard working kids!
