I’ve known too many teenage girls who found themselves pregnant, and the boy who swore he loved her and would never leave her suddenly vanished. At 16, don’t risk it. The consequences are too great for a few moments of pleasure. Be firm and break up now if he doesn’t agree with a non sexual relationship. It will hurt, but a lot less than potentially being a teen mom.
wow where did you grow up? i never knew anyone.
NP but I grew up in the Midwest in a fancy suburb that sends lots of kids to the kind of schools that everyone on here obsesses over. Girls I knew who got pregnant or had scares were on the field hockey team, on the swim team, in Model UN and on student council. All took a ton of AP classes and no one would have guessed what was going on. I remember a male classmate in AP Calc being relieved because his girlfriend had a miscarriage and so their pregnancy scare was over. This was in the days before cheap texting so he was telling his friend behind me via typed notes on a TI-82 calculator that I had to pass back and forth between them! Girls I knew of who got pregnant and actually kept the babies? One girl on drill team and a bunch of other girls from the “bad” neighborhood. My guess is they were the only ones without rich parents or older sisters to help them out. Being smart or from a “nice” school isn’t magical protection against pregnancy. OP’s DD is making an intelligent choice.
