I knew this snarky response would be coming sooner rather than later.  Are you telling me that when you host for Thanksgiving or when you’re invited elsewhere you neither ask nor are asked the question “is there anything special that you like on Thanksgiving?”  Or in your world is it “look, if you’re coming to my house just STFU and eat what I serve and like it!”[/quote]

NP, but - no, when I'm hosting (Thanksgiving or otherwise) I don't ask if there's anything people want specifically, and I've never been asked.  If it's someone I haven't hosted before, I would ask about allergies/restrictions.  But other than that, I'm the host, I'm a menu planner and cook, and I'd expect people (especially adults) to be polite and eat what is served or at least not make a fuss about it.  [/quote]
