[/quote] Yeah, I do this for my kid. But, I’m a kid of immigrant parents and my parents NEVER would have/could have done this for me. I had excellent teachers in my public schools and I learned how to write there. My parents didn’t have to hire a tutor or put me in writing camps or teach me how to write (they couldn’t - they were ESOL!). So, MCPS is certainly doing kids a disservice by not holding them accountable to accepted writing grammar and spelling standards. Lots of parents want their kids do do well but can’t be the teachers themselves. [/quote]
