I guess I am the kind of unicorn you are looking for. My kids are getting older and don't need me as much so I was looking for short-term work and accepted a care job to cover a private hire caregiver taking leave. It worked out so I stayed on as a back up caregiver when the regular caregivers got sick or needed a day off. Dementia patient. I like to cook so make healthier meals and snacks than she'd normally get and we watch TV or I scroll on my phone while she reads. She always remembers me so that's nice. I think looking for a mom who wants something to do is probably your best bet. I don't need the money or any benefits. I consider everything I learned to be helpful when my mom suddenly needed me.
How old are they? If they are middle school/high school age, don't they need you to drive them to sports practice or club events? Don't you want to be able to see their games or do stuff with them on the weekends? OP wants a companion for evenings (sometimes as late as 10 pm) and weekends--isn't that when you actually get to see your older kids?
