It is infuriating OP. I cannot for the life of me understand why this is so hard for them. I can't help but think the results dismal and they want time to pass so people forget about it. These scores absolutely matter. They are an indicator of the competency of the school administration, a measure of the academic level the students are at, and indicator of teacher strength. These are all important factors if one is moving to FCPS to see which are school is the best for their kid.
These scores do not matter. There are kids who don’t speak English being forced to take these tests. It only matters how your kid does.
DP. But as a tax paying and voting citizen, the scores matter to me. I want to know how the schools in my community are, or are not, meeting the needs of all children. Shame on you.
Except you cannot compare a school that is predominantly white to one with a larger ESL or SPEd population. They are not bad schools, they just don’t have enough resources to help those kids.
Uhm yes, that’s my point. Show us the scores so we can think about where resources need to go!
Except then there will be complaints that Mclean pyramid has 30 kids per class and other schools have 18 per class.
What PP means is show us the scores so we can decide what schools to avoid
But there are great schools that have larger FRM rates that aren’t title 1 that are doing the best they can. Our school has 36 percent ESL and only 3 ESL teachers. Please tell me how these three individuals can bring up all of those kids to grade level? We are not ESL and love our school. Our kid has had fantastic teachers. But our SOL scores aren’t great due to our large ESL population and SPED population. The white and Asian population has high test scores.
