and it's pretty ableist to say "blah blah blah" about my disabilities. you're a witch
Jesus Christ lady, 1 million Americans DIED from Covid. It was a once in a century crisis. Mistakes were made. Risks were taken. There was collateral damage. I’m sure IF you were one of them. And yes I mean IF.
It actually wasn't a once in a century crisis. We made it into one but the countries who locked down and those who really didn't- mostly had the same outcome. Same as the US overall. Comparing California to Florida doesn't really yield substantial difference when accounting for population age and all of that. But while that's all relevant, in this case, its beside the point. What is the point is that there absolutely was collateral damage in people being forced to do something they didn't want to and now, now...especially as evident on just this sampling of a thread, the response is get over it. Move on. $ell no!
Oh go storm the Capitol or something.
I so love when someone provides information that's counter to your narrative that you wish to believe with no basis in fact, your response is to insult. Especially since wasn't that the exact thing we (yes, we because I am one) democrats hated Trump for? He resorted to name calling and insults when confronted with something he didn't want to believe? My how the tables have turned.
Look, you totally missed the point of my initial response. I said clearly “mistakes were made.” It’s a helluva lot easier to say with the benefit of hindsight that some of the more draconian measures taken weren’t worth it. But tens of thousands of people were dropping dead each week at the height of Covid, and I’m not going to vilify scientists and public health officials who were doing the best they could at the time to try and stop that. That’s the difference between you and me.
They were not doing the best they could. E-mail from Fauci in Feb 2020 said that masks are generally useless against respiratory diseases. He also gave conflicting statements in public, at one point telling people not to get masks, ostensibly because he wanted to make sure they were available for health care providers(where it makes more sense, they were always using masks in ICUs even before covid.) Primarily, the public health officials ignored immunity from infection in favor of pushing a narrative of 'vaccines for all and do not question it.'
