I don't care for either school but I do know that Northeastern is a great school in a great location (better than Northwestern location). Northeastern also has a great coop program. As for gaming the system, the only school that did so recently was Columbia.
This. The defining aspect of Northeastern is the coop program. I can't believe it took 3 pages for that to even be mentioned. You should go to Northeastern if you want to combine school and work by alternating periods of classes with periods of coop work. Northwestern is a more traditional university experience.
Most students at northwestern do meaningful summer internships. In engineering, over 30% do coops. Coop is not unique to NEU. And based on the rapid growth at NEU in the last 3-4 years, without the full infrastructure to support it, there are plenty of kids who want a coop, applied to 150+ and cannot find one. Which means they just take classes instead, and likely didn't search for a meaningful internship, so might only graduate with 1 coop, not 2 or 3. Coop is great, but it can be done for STEM at many many other schools.
Why would you think they "don't have the infrastructure to support it"? Northeastern has been buying up small universities all over the world, and has about ten campuses from London to Canada, to everywhere. You need to do your research before you try to talk out of your arse. In addition, Northeastern's Engineering programs are tops, including the Engineering Coops. I know several current Northeastern students that are singing the praises of their Engineering coops. You sound like you have never once set foot on campus, and you come here every week to claim more of the same nonsense. Get a life.
