There's a culture of lawlessness here that I don't see even in other major U.S. cities. Just stand by the Metro gates sometime and see who pays and who doesn't. It's eye-opening.[/quote] That's really scary considering I don't feel safe in NYC these days either. Too many homeless people with mental issues causing violence. My friend who lives in Brooklyn doesn't even like taking the subway anymore and my mom was harassed and called racist names while walking on the street at a recent visit. She's Asian.[/quote]
