So don't read these threads! It's not that hard not to click on it. Don't listen, don't read, don't engage. But this is a thread started by a complete asshole who said if you don't like it here, get out. That's going to bring out a lot of reaction from people, and then for you to come on here and refer to people who don't love it here as whining and pathetic, you're in the same boat as the OP. Close your ears, don't listen, tune them out. Take responsibility. Other people have the right to their own opinions without you calling them pathetic. They don't have to share your views.

I for one have been happy here. Then not happy here. Happy elsewhere. All of it. It's situational and family oriented and everything. Nobody on here is non-stop whining because it's a limited thread. I made that comment NOT solely based on DCUM, but based on what I hear from actual people I know on a regular basis .. and sorry, but it's annoying and exhausting- which is why I wanted to respond to this thread. I didn't view OP as touting DC to be the best of the best or saying it must be your dream city - rather that he/she is sick of hearing people talk about how much they dislike it blah blahblah. "It's not a city, NYC is a city" ETC. ETC. Who would even attempt to compare DC to NYC or Chicago?? It's DC, not meant to be like anywhere else.  It is the people who are on their high-horses that I'm referring to.  We lived in Dupont for 7 years, and now upper NW.  Do I really love London and sometimes miss it? I do.  But are there great things about DC that we've been able to take advantage of? There are.  We're really enjoying our time here.  I also tend to think a lot of the people who dislike it are the ones who are struggling financially and living in the burbs, not DC proper -- not all, but many.  [/quote]
