It was standard to send grad announcements to everyone back in my day. Even neighbors in my blue collar neighborhood gave me gifts and I didn't send them announcements. It was an important rite of passage and far fewer kids went on to college. I'm astounded by the people who are offended. Sent them for my kids and was disappointed at the relatives who had kids I sent grad gifts who ignored them. It was nice though that several extended relatives didn't ignore and attended the online graduation.
+2. People are offended at everything, these days, not to mention selfish. So I guess I'm not surprised. I plan to send announcements/invites when it is our child and those who are offended are free to ignore and be offended. These are the same people who get their panties in a bunch over holiday cards, which I find hilarious. So this doesn't bother me, either.
