He doesn’t fit his new district at all. That said, the fact that he has two challengers will probably dilute the opposition vote and kee him in power. One of the two should drop out so his new district doesn’t get stuck with him.
I met Erika Yalowitz a few weeks ago and she is VERY impressive. I hope Saddam drops out and gets behind her.
I had a chance to meet with all three candidates through different events and here are my observations. Chap seems like a democrat stuck in the 90s. His voting pattern is horrible. Saddam seemed like a nice guy, but he couldn't answer any of my questions. This is his first race and I felt that he needs to run for something more local to better understand the area before stepping into a larger seat. I agree Erika is very impressive and I found her to be the most genuine. Her past run for Board of Supervisors and community experience throughout Oakton, Vienna, and Tysons shows that she understands the current issues in this area. Her work with the Blake Lane community saved the only green space in that community. Out of the three candidates, I felt Erika would make a great state senator.
