Yes I wash my hands, but I cannot stand to touch raw meat or most produce with my bear hands. To avoid cross contamination, I will put in a new set. Then if handling cooked food say to slice meat, another set. Probably everytime I cook, I go through five pairs.
Are you cooking for a restaurant or a commercial endeavor? If not, NO gloves. Actually somebody that can’t stand the feeling of produce on their hands probably needs to escalate to some form of OT or sensory work to help with this. Being disgusted by a hunk of raw chicken or meat is normal; disgusted by a carrot or some tomatoes is not. Please get help. For context I am an avid home cook, we probably eat 95 percent of meals at home, and I would only use gloves if handling something pretty intense (making garlicky lamb meat balls, or kebab for a party, or deveining a bunch of chiles) but not otherwise.
