I really don’t worry about microplastics from latex gloves.

She left off the question mark but her post title is a question.

The literacy level on this site has really gone downhill.

OP can ask if one uses gloves, but not asking for unprofessional advice about therapy or anything else.

The Chairborne rangers who think they are behaviorial experts is out of control.

OP reads like a yes or no question to me.

So if someone asked “what is the best way to kill myself” you’d just answer the question, ma’am, no commenting on whether it’s a good idea or not?

I only use gloves when I'm chopping up spicy peppers. There have been a couple of incidents when I didn't and my hands burned for days (from a jalapeno!!!) Otherwise I have no issues with bare hands in the kitchen, washing when appropriate.

Are you cooking for a restaurant or a commercial endeavor? If not, NO gloves. Actually somebody that can’t stand the feeling of produce on their hands probably needs to escalate to some form of OT or sensory work to help with this. Being disgusted by a hunk of raw chicken or meat is normal; disgusted by a carrot or some tomatoes is not. Please get help.

For context I am an avid home cook, we probably eat 95 percent of meals at home, and I would only use gloves if handling something pretty intense (making garlicky lamb meat balls, or kebab for a party, or deveining a bunch of chiles) but not otherwise.

This. I lift the meat out of the package with a fork, cut with a fork and knife, lift or scrape into the bowl or pan. It's rarely necessary to use my hand.

I make meatballs with my hands, and while I don't wear gloves I could imagine preferring that. One set, only, though.

How do you eat fruit, like apples? Do you use a fork?

She probably washes them with bleach and hand sanitizer.

It literally never crossed my mind that people would use plastic gloves while cooking at home. And multiple pairs
Per meal!?! What the actual eff? Its so bizarre and wasteful and weird.

You think those situations are analogous?

I'm so, so grateful that I'm not a germaphobe.

No kids so I'm free to use all the gloves I want. Also these same ladies probably still use body wash in a nice large plastic bottle but they want to condemn you.

I don’t use body wash or gloves and don’t have kids. I use bar soap and just wash my hands.

I do not wear gloves, but used to hate touching raw meat. I just made myself do it and eventually got used to it.

If you need to wear gloves and are concerned with how many pairs you are using, you should consider changing how you handle food. Wear gloves while cutting/prepping the meat but after that use containers and utensils to touch the meat.

I don't even know how the gloves could fit over the claws.

I use gloves for raw meat only. Often it's only one glove, as I'll hold the chicken in my left (gloved) hand and the knife with my right ungloved hand.
